sculpture2Born in Stanford, CA, Batnadiv HaKarmi spent her formative years in the Old City of Jerusalem, where she still resides. Jerusalem, with its palpable history and cross currents of faiths, has impacted her works, which often explore the nexus of mythology, art and holiness. Batnadiv studied art at the Jerusalem Studio School, the International School of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture, Italy, and the New York Studio School. She also holds an MA in Comparative Literature from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. In tandem with her artistic pursuits, Batnadiv has explored the influence of the Bible on Western culture in her academic studies. She holds an MA in Comparative Literature from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, where she was awarded the Rector’s Prize and the Wolf Foundation Award. Since returning from her art studies abroad, Batnadiv has been heading the art program at Emunah veOmanut, a branch of Emunah College.
